VISITING THE FORMER BEER FACTORY AND ITS HISTORY

Long time ego, at the beginning of the 20th century the company was created. The Saski Family managed this company. Julius Saski had the Beer Factory. His son Stanley was in chargé of the company in Ostrowiec. He was learning his profesion in Germany.

The company built a beer factory here. In the interwar period 25 people worked in it. I mean 20 workers and 5 administration employess. They brew beer and now we brew the cultural activities. They produced light, dark beer.  We can see bottles behind the glass. They didn’t have caps. These bottles had flugs. Each bottle was owned by the beer factory.

We are in Tourist Information Point. One hundred years ago workers were prepering malt in this place.

Now we visit the second room. This is Cafe „The sweet note”. We don’t have our beer but here you can dring regional beer from Balthow. It’s craft beer. I mean that production is similar like one hundred years ego. You can eat something sweet in this cafe, for example ice cream, fruit desserts. In the Sweet Note Cafe we have many events: dance parties or disco polo night. On the left there is „The art office”. The train was outside and beer was taken from this place. There used to be basements where the parking is.

The library is another cultural institution here. There was a warehouse in this place. These poles are original. On the photo we cen see workers of a beer factory during II World War. They were nervous because Germans stood opposite. This is Czesław Sworowski from Poznań. He collaborated with nazists.

This man was the main brewer. She worked in the box office. Mr Bolesław Pożoga i Mr Kozioł saved Jews. They names are in Yad Vashem Institute in Israel. Old mill and Small beer factory are over there.

There was a brewhouse underground. The beer was boiled for three hours in the temperature seventy degrees. The dring was cleaning later. There were large vessels. Yeast was added to the drink. The beer was being created. It had to sit for over a week before it was poured into bottles.

The beer was still produced under communist rule. Family Saski lost this beer factory illegaly. The government had no right to take factory away. The beer factory existed to seventies twentieth century.

These buildings were destroyed. The Saski family received it back at the end of the 20th century.  The government wanted to tear them down. You can see block of flats. They end at some place. There was supposed to be a supermarket here.

… at the beginning of 21th century were created cultural buildings. We have here Municipal Cultural Center, City Library, Art Office and Cafe The sweet note.
